Three Cafés in A Coruña Where I'd Actually Get Some Work Done

Stayed in A Coruña, Galicia | June 17–23

After spending several days in A Coruña, I quickly settled into a routine.

Mornings usually started with a walk along the waterfront before opening my laptop for a few hours. As someone who runs a travel website while constantly moving between destinations, finding a café with reliable Wi-Fi, comfortable seating, good coffee and an atmosphere where you don't feel rushed is almost as important as finding a good hotel.

Fortunately, A Coruña has plenty of options.

Some cafés are perfect for a quick espresso before sightseeing. Others invite you to linger for hours with a second coffee and your laptop open.

These were the three cafés I'd happily return to whenever I need to get some work done.

Some cafés simply get everything right.

Miss Maruja has become one of A Coruña's most popular speciality coffee shops, and after spending a morning there, it wasn't difficult to understand why.

The interior is bright and minimalist without feeling cold. White walls, natural timber furniture, indoor plants and large windows allow plenty of natural light to flood the space throughout the morning. The whole café feels calm, making it easy to concentrate without complete silence.

I chose a table near the front window where I had plenty of space to spread out my laptop, notebook and camera.

The Wi-Fi was fast and reliable throughout my visit, and there were several power outlets available around the seating area, something every remote worker appreciates.

The menu focuses on speciality coffee, homemade pastries, artisan sandwiches and fresh breakfast dishes.

I ordered avocado toast on sourdough, a warm almond croissant and, as always, a decaf flat white.

Everything arrived beautifully presented. The avocado toast was fresh, generously topped and served on excellent sourdough, while the croissant was buttery and perfectly flaky. Even the decaf coffee was excellent, something that's surprisingly difficult to find while travelling.

Most importantly, I never felt rushed.

Staff were friendly, tables turned over naturally and plenty of people were also working on laptops, creating exactly the sort of atmosphere I look for when travelling.

2. CONUCO Coffee Roasters: Where Great Coffee Meets Great Work

If your ideal remote working session starts with an exceptional cup of coffee, CONUCO Coffee Roasters is well worth the walk.

One of A Coruña's best-known specialty coffee shops, CONUCO has earned a loyal following for its expertly roasted beans, skilled baristas and consistently excellent coffee. The minimalist interior combines exposed brick, light wood furnishings and plenty of natural light, creating a calm space that's easy to settle into.

I arrived not long after opening and had no trouble finding a table where I could work comfortably for a couple of hours. The atmosphere was relaxed, with a mix of locals catching up over coffee and remote workers quietly focused on their laptops.

I ordered a smoked salmon bagel alongside a decaf cappuccino. The bagel was fresh and generously filled, while the cappuccino was smooth, rich and expertly prepared. It was the kind of coffee that reminded me why specialty cafés like this have such a strong reputation.

The Wi-Fi stayed reliable throughout my visit, making it easy to answer emails and upload photos without interruption. Although the café isn't especially large, it strikes a nice balance between a welcoming coffee shop and a productive workspace.

3. La Tita Rivera: Perfect When You Want to Mix Work With People Watching

Not every work session needs complete silence.

Sometimes I actually enjoy a bit of background buzz, especially when I'm editing photos or writing a new blog post.

La Tita Rivera was perfect for that.

Located just a short walk from Plaza de María Pita, the café has a stylish yet laid-back feel that makes it easy to settle in for a few hours. Inside, exposed stone walls, industrial-style lighting and warm wooden furnishings create a space that feels both modern and welcoming.

I managed to grab a table by one of the large windows, giving me a great view of the street outside. It was the kind of spot where people-watching became almost as entertaining as getting work done.

This time I ordered a plate of loaded nachos with a cold beer. It might not be the typical remote-working meal, but it was exactly what I felt like after a morning of exploring the city. The food arrived quickly, the portions were generous and it was an easy lunch to enjoy while answering emails and writing.

The Wi-Fi remained fast and reliable throughout my visit, and even as the café became busier around lunchtime, the atmosphere stayed lively without feeling overwhelming.

If you enjoy working somewhere with a little more energy instead of complete silence, La Tita Rivera is an easy recommendation.Wi-Fi: ★★★★★

Laptop friendly: Very good

Coffee: ★★★★☆

Best for: Remote work with a lively city-centre atmosphere.

Where I'd Open My Laptop Again

Finding a good café to work from isn't just about the coffee.

It's about comfortable seating, reliable Wi-Fi, enough space to settle in, good food and an atmosphere that makes you want to stay for another hour.

Miss Maruja was my overall favourite thanks to its calm environment and excellent coffee.

CONUCO Coffee Roasters served the best speciality coffee of the three.

La Tita Rivera offered the best atmosphere if you enjoy working with a little more life around you.

If you're spending a few days in A Coruña, I'd happily recommend all three. They made working while travelling feel far less like work, and that's probably the best compliment I can give any café.
