Five Stars, Two Personalities: My Favourite Luxury Stays in Marbella

Stayed in Marbella, Spain | September and October 2026

Marbella has no shortage of luxury hotels, but only a few manage to feel truly special. During my time on the Costa del Sol, I stayed at two 5-star hotels that could not have been more different, and I loved both of them for completely different reasons.

One is a tiny adults-only boutique retreat with a zen atmosphere. The other is one of the most famous resorts on the Golden Mile, with its own beach, spa and restaurants.

If you're planning a special stay in Marbella this year, these are the two 5-star hotels I'd happily recommend.

1. Casa Bodhi Boutique Hotel & Spa: A Peaceful Adults-Only Escape

Casa Bodhi is the kind of hotel you want to keep to yourself. Tucked away on the eastern side of Marbella, this adults-only boutique retreat has only around ten rooms, and that small size shapes everything about the stay. It is quiet, personal and wonderfully calm.

The moment I arrived, I could feel the zen atmosphere. Beautiful interior design, soft natural tones and a lush garden set the mood, and the owners and staff gave me a warm, genuine welcome.

My room was elegant, spotless and thoughtfully designed, with air conditioning, a comfortable bed, a private bathroom with a walk-in shower and a private terrace. Many rooms have views over the pool or the garden, and some have sea views. It was easy to relax and sleep well.

The wellness facilities are a real highlight. Casa Bodhi has a saltwater swimming pool, a fitness centre, a sauna, a steam room, an open-air bath and a sun terrace, plus an outdoor fireplace for cooler evenings. After a day out, I found myself coming back just to enjoy the pool and the peaceful garden.

Breakfast was another highlight. It is served each morning with continental, à la carte, vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options, including fresh pastries, local specialities, fruit and juices. It was beautifully presented and I looked forward to it every day.

The location is quiet and residential, but still close enough to reach Marbella's beaches, golf courses and restaurants. Real de Zaragoza Beach is about a 19-minute walk away, and private parking is available if you have a car. Málaga Airport is roughly 45 minutes away.

Stayed: Mid September

Best for: Couples, honeymooners and anyone who wants a quiet, adults-only wellness retreat.

Would I stay again?

Without question.

If you love peace, great design and personal service, Casa Bodhi is hard to beat.

2. Marbella Club Hotel Golf Resort & Spa: Classic Luxury on the Golden Mile

Bulevar Príncipe Alfonso von Hohenlohe, Marbella, Spain | Stayed mid October

My second 5-star stay was a very different experience. Marbella Club Hotel Golf Resort & Spa is one of the most iconic addresses on the Golden Mile, and it lives up to its reputation. It combines a relaxed, Mediterranean elegance with all the facilities of a full resort.

The setting is beautiful. Low-rise buildings sit among lush gardens, and the hotel has direct access to the beach, with sun loungers, umbrellas and a beach bar ready for you. With around 130 rooms, suites and villas spread across the grounds, it feels spacious and private rather than crowded.

My room was spacious, stylish and very comfortable, with a terrace overlooking the gardens. The service was warm and attentive throughout, and every small detail felt considered.

There is a lot to enjoy here. The resort has two outdoor swimming pools, a children's pool, a 24-hour health club and the MC Thalasso Spa, which offers massages, body wraps and treatments across 12 treatment rooms, along with a sauna, steam room and hammam. Golf, Pilates, yoga and horseback riding are also available for those who want to stay active.

The food is a highlight too. With six restaurants and bars to choose from, including a beach bar and poolside dining, I never had to look far for a great meal or a sunset drink by the water.

The location is excellent. Puerto Banús and Marbella's old town are both about a 5-minute drive away, and Málaga Airport is around 36 to 38 minutes by car.

Stayed: Mid October

Best for: Couples, families, golfers and anyone celebrating a special occasion.

Would I stay again?

Definitely.

It's a classic Marbella stay and an easy hotel to fall in love with.

Two Hotels, Two Kinds of Luxury

Looking back, these two stays showed me that luxury in Marbella can take very different forms. Casa Bodhi offered intimacy, calm and a personal touch. Marbella Club offered space, sea and the full resort experience.

Both were beautifully run, spotlessly clean and staffed by people who clearly care. They also reminded me that the best hotels aren't only about stars. They are about how they make you feel when you walk through the door.

I'd happily recommend both to anyone planning a special trip to Marbella in 2026.
