Marbella, Costa del Sol, Spain
Marbella is famous for glamour, but one of my favourite discoveries was how much character its small, independent shops have. Beyond the big malls and designer names in Puerto Banús, the whitewashed streets of the Old Town and the Golden Mile hide boutiques that you simply won't find at home.
If you love clothes, bags, shoes and one-of-a-kind accessories, you can fill a suitcase here without ever stepping into a chain store. I put together my shortlist of five boutiques I'd recommend, from breezy beach dresses to vintage luxury handbags.
Here are my best five unique boutique stores for clothes and accessories in Marbella.
1. TANDEM: Breezy Beach Dresses in the Old Town

Old Town, Marbella (Calle Carmen and Calle Gloria) | Best for holiday dresses and cover-ups
TANDEM is a cosy womenswear boutique with two tucked-away shops on the narrow streets of Marbella's Old Town. It's known for relaxed, holiday-ready pieces, including flowy bohemian dresses, sandals, hats and cover-ups, all in a colourful, easy style that suits the town perfectly.

It's the kind of shop where you can find a new outfit for dinner by the sea and the accessories to match. Browsing here is half the fun, since the shops feel like a personal wardrobe rather than a store.
What to look for: Long and midi summer dresses, sandals, sun hats and cover-ups.
Best for: Beach holidays, bohemian style and easy-to-pack outfits.
Worth knowing: There are two locations a short walk apart, so you can pop into both in one wander.
2. Chic Vintage: Authenticated Luxury Handbags

Calle Enrique del Castillo, Old Town, Marbella | Best for vintage designer bags
If you love a bag with a story, Chic Vintage is a treat. This Old Town boutique specialises in authenticated vintage luxury handbags, with a carefully chosen selection that often includes one-of-a-kind pieces.

It's a great way to take home a designer piece that is genuinely unique, and it feels far more special than buying new. Even if you only window-shop, the display is worth a visit.
What to look for: Vintage designer handbags and collectable accessories.
Best for: Handbag lovers, collectors and anyone who wants something nobody else will have.
Worth knowing: Stock changes often, as many pieces are single items, so visit early in your trip.
3. 2 Espadrilles from Marbella: Handmade Shoes with Local Roots

Marbella | Best for comfortable, local summer shoes
Espadrilles are the most useful shoe you can pack for Marbella, and 2 Espadrilles from Marbella gives them a local twist. The label offers unique shoes that are traditionally from the area, and they are known for being comfortable enough to wear all day.

They pair beautifully with summer dresses and relaxed linen outfits, and they make a lovely souvenir that you will actually wear. It's a wonderful alternative to the usual tourist gifts.
What to look for: Espadrille sandals and flats in summery styles.
Best for: Comfortable everyday shoes and meaningful souvenirs.
Worth knowing: Try them on with the outfits you plan to wear, and bring any questions about sizing to the shop.
4. Deja Vu: A Designer and Vintage Boutique with a Twist

Marbella | Best for something a little different
Deja Vu is a boutique that combines designer and vintage pieces, and it has a reputation for offering something different from the usual luxury labels. It's the kind of place where you might find a statement jacket, a retro accessory or a pre-loved designer item that feels completely personal.

Shops like this are perfect if you enjoy the thrill of the hunt. Allow yourself plenty of time to browse, and don't be afraid to try on something bold.
What to look for: Designer and vintage clothing, plus accessories.
Best for: Fashion lovers who enjoy unusual finds and pre-loved luxury.
Worth knowing: Check opening hours before you go, as small boutiques sometimes close for lunch or on certain days.
5. LOEWE at Marbella Club: A Boutique That Doubles as a Gallery

Marbella Club, Golden Mile, Marbella | Best for luxury accessories and design lovers
My last pick is the LOEWE boutique at the Marbella Club. It is housed in the historic Finca Ana María estate, and the building is almost as impressive as the products. Whitewashed walls, bright coloured tiles and a bright, airy design make it feel like a gallery as well as a shop.

Inside, you'll find women's ready-to-wear, bags, shoes, eyewear and small leather goods, along with homewares and a room dedicated to exotic handbags. If you stayed at the Marbella Club as I did, it's an easy and beautiful stop on the grounds.
What to look for: Luxury bags, eyewear, shoes and homewares.
Best for: Special treats, design lovers and Marbella Club guests.
Worth knowing: Even if you don't plan to buy, the setting alone makes it worth a visit.
How to Shop Marbella Like a Local
TANDEM is the one for breezy holiday outfits. Chic Vintage is the place for a handbag with history. 2 Espadrilles from Marbella gives you comfortable local shoes. Deja Vu offers unusual designer and vintage finds. And LOEWE at Marbella Club is a luxury stop with real style.
A few tips before you shop:
Start in the Old Town and wander the small streets, since many boutiques are hidden away.
Visit in the morning or late afternoon, when it's cooler and quieter.
Check opening hours, as many small shops close for a long lunch.
Bring a tote bag and a little extra suitcase space.
Wherever you shop, Marbella is a wonderful place to find something that nobody else has. If you'd like to see where I stayed along the coast, take a look at my hotel guides too.
